A few weekends ago my Sister came to visit during her spring break (She’s a teacher). My sister Samantha has her own apartment where she has been busy decorating it and turning into her home. Since she was coming to stay for an entire week, and she knows how much I love to craft, she decided to bring a project with her. She’s been looking for a cute storage bench to put in her bathroom and with no luck, she decided to just make on herself.
I am pleased to announce that my partner Ashley and my website for our new business Modest and Made is officially live.
a little about the company:
We created our company just for Brides & others like you! We were both Brides at one time and we know how stressful and expensive events can be. We also know how time consuming shopping and making your own DIY wedding decor can be, so let us do it for you! We have a large variety of decor available for rent and customizable products for purchase.
2017 is officially in full swing. I’ve seriously been going non-stop since January 1st, and I don’t know about you guys…but I feel like I’m just now coming up for some air. with home renovations close on my mind, I’ve been researching some 2017 bathroom trends, and I thought I would share some of my findings with you all! Here are my top 5 favorite bathroom trends to look out for in 2017.
Hi DIY lovers,
Life has been a bit hectic since our move to Carlsbad, CA. We Finally got all moved into the new condo (pics coming soon), getting situated into work, trying to keep up with blogging, and now some even more exciting news…. trying to startup a new wedding business called Modest & Made (details on what that means coming soon) with Ashley Frank (my Cousin’s wife) who is also my soul sista. Stay tuned to find out what kind of business it is and more about my new partner in crime, that will feature a guest blog post. She’s pretty amazing and has a heart for DIY and crafts just like myself. She’s a woman of many talents and skills, and as my dad always says “It’s great to have friends with skills.”
My Husband and I are pretty much all moved in. We officially close on Wednesday (tomorrow) and just have a few more little things to grab from the old house. I’m really pleased with how the new house is coming together (even if it is a rental). I was a little picky about the things i hung and the decor i brought it since our plan is to only be in this place for the next 9 months. The less work/moving in 9 months the better! It’s crazy to think that we’ve lived in Cali almost three years and moved three times already… I’m kind of a pro at this point.
This past weekend my husband and I had a day date, building an accent table to match the wood coffee table we built last weekend. If you missed the blog post you can read about it here… I found the original coffee table tutorial on Pinterest a while back and my husband and I created a side table to match. We LOVE the way our living room looks and how much more uniform it looks now that it has matching furniture and not a bunch of random pieces everywhere. We built it pretty much the same way as the coffee table. The only difference was that we didn’t need the support piece in the middle, since the table was small enough. You can find the original coffee table blog post here.
Some exciting news to share with you all!!! Our house is finally in escrow. Be praying it doesn’t fall through and that we can close in a quick 35 days. I’ve already been commuting to work for about a week and half, and the days have been long.. Not to mention i’ve been sick which makes the days feel even longer. Things are starting to feel like they are finally starting to fall into place. Now, if only we can figure out our next living situation.
Wow…. life has been hectic. Between trying to sell our first home, find a new one, start a new job, and quite a bit of traveling, open houses every weekend, life has been hectic. And, Just for the record… No, our home has not sold yet. I don’t recommend putting your house on the market right before Thanksgiving. The holidays are the WORST time to sell. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much choice with our timing since I’m relocating for work in just 2 weeks. My husband and I also found exactly where we want to live. Unfortunately, it’s over our budget. So, we’ve decided to rent for 6-9 months while we save up some more money, so we can live in our dream neighborhood and buy a fixer upper. In the meantime, our goal is to find a pretty condo with an ocean view. We may have found the place, but we need our home to sell first. Everyone send us your positive vibes and prayers!!!
Thanksgiving is right around the corner! I’m ecstatic to only have three days of work this week! (Happy dance).. I’m also excited to share my top 5 favorite Thanksgiving tablescapes. I wish I had my own creative center piece to share with you this year, but unfortunately I have yet to have had the chance to host a thanksgiving dinner. My hope is that next year I will finally get the chance to host. (yeah I know… Says no one ever…) But I really do! I love hosting and having family and friends over. It makes my heart happy to see everyone together doing life.
In case you were wondering Why I have been MIA the past few weekends, it’s because I’ve been trying to get my house ready to be put on the market. As well as weekends being spent looking for a new home. That’s right.. We’re moving.
I’m really excited to share my story with you and why we decided to move after almost two years of living in our first home together in beautiful Orange County.
